GeoRabble Melbourne – Social Media

October 3, 2011

  • Twitter @GeoRabble  Hashtags #GeoRabble  #GeoRabbleMelb
    • There is an open @georabble twitter feed with access and passwords provided for  GeoRabble Melbourne 1 Organizers  – more traffic and tweets would be good.
    • The preferred convention is that official Tweets about GR events or items will be tweeted first from @Georabble and then can be Retweeted form individual twitter accounts.
    • Follow the hashtags above and also follow @GeoRabble
  • GeoRabble WordPress Blog / Website
    • GeoRabble Melbourne official event postings will work from the same site as Sydney.
    • Sydney GR Team have Created a GeoRabble Melbourne Page and given Login and Password access to the GeoRabble Melbourne 1 Organizers   to control.
    • This allows participants to make posts that are under the GRMelb page
  • Facebook –  The GeoRabble community is (still) too small to be diluted between regions, so we will use a generic/national FB page with multiple admins and logins handed to organisers.  email
  • Google Calendar, (Yvonne) I could make a GeoRabble  calendar which I can merge with other selected event calendars. I’ll see if it is worth it.
  • Meetup – Melbourne Georabble Meetup Group is set up, $12/m for 6 months. There is also a Meetup group for MOGIS, so we can keep them informed. They will issue a cross post to members of the first announced GRM Event.
  • LinkedIn  A number of the GR organizers are on LinkedIn, which helps as you can  view each other’s professional backgrounds.  There is an existing GeoRabble Group which I’d encourage people to join.
  • Google+  I have set up my own Circle but not all are in it, not really sure if its worth using at this stage.
  • Eventbrite  Invitations and Registration for Melbourne GeoRabble 1 from here

For Later Consideration

  • Wiki  Reserved a GeoRabble and GeoRabbleMelb  but I think it is too complicated for current and foreseeable requirement.
